Sigma to Introduce APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM Lens for Sony/KM and Pentax Mounts

Sigma_APO70_200F28.jpgSigma announced today that their APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM Lens will soon be available for the Sony/KM Mount and Pentax Mount. Already available for Canon, Sigma, and Nikon Mounts, Sigma expects to release the Pentax and Sony/KM versions by mid to late spring - just in time for your summer vacation.
This large aperture telephoto zoom lens has a minimum focusing distance of 100cm (39.4") and has a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.5 and it is optimized for digital SLR cameras. This lens' super multi layer lens coating reduces flare and ghost, which is a common problem with digital cameras. ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glasses and SLD "Special Low Dispersion" glasses are used for utmost correction against chromatic aberrations, high image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range.
Close-up Photography
This large aperture telephoto zoom lens has a minimum focusing distance of 100cm (39.4") throughout the entire zoom range. It is very convenient for close-up photography. It maintains a greater working distance that enables you to capture the small animals and insects without disturbing them.
Reduces flare and ghost
The new multi layer lens coating and lens design reduce flare and ghost, which is a common problem with digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance through the entire zoom range.
High performance with both digital or film SLR cameras
It is compatible with full-frame digital SLR cameras as well as offers high performance with both digital or film SLR cameras
SLD and ELD glasses
This lens uses two ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glasses and two SLD "Special Low Dispersion" glasses for utmost correction against chromatic aberrations. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range.
HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor)
The HSM models provide ultra quiet high-speed autofocusing as well as full-time manual focus override.
Inner focusing and inner zooming systems.
The lens design incorporates an inner focusing and inner zooming systems. The overall length of the lens does not change during focusing and zooming, ensuring convenient handling. An inner focusing system also eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using the petal-type lens hood supplied and circular polarizing filters. A removable tripod collar (TS-21) is included as a standard component.
APO Tele-Converter EX (optional)
When this lens is used with the 1.4x EX DG APO or 2x EX DG APO Tele Converters (optional), it becomes a 98-280mm F4 AF telephoto zoom lens or a 140-400mm F5.6 AF telephoto zoom lens respectively.
