New Epson GT-2500 and GT-2500 Plus Document Imaging Scanners Give Small Business Workgroups Fast, Affordable Tools for Quality Color Scans Up to 8.5" X 14"

New Scanners Offer High-Resolution Color Imaging up to 1200 dpi; Fast, Reliable, Performance; Auto-Duplexing; and Network-Ready Connectivity

Epson America, Inc. today announced two fast, affordable document imaging scanners designed for small business workgroups with the Epson GT-2500 and GT-2500 Plus. These flatbed scanners are not only engineered to capture high-quality, 48-bit color scans up to 8.5" x 14" in size, but can do so at resolutions up to 1200 x 1200 dpi for intense detail. They can scan documents up to 27 pages per minute in monochrome (ppm) and up to 11 ppm in color in 300 dpi. Both scanners also come standard with several productivity-enhancing features such as a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), automatic duplexing, one-button scanning, and more.

The Epson GT-2500 and GT-2500 Plus are respectively priced at $599 and $899 (estimated street prices) and will be available in July 2006. The Epson GT-2500 Plus has all the features of the GT-2500 but adds a network-ready card that enables it to be shared with other workgroup members over a LAN. This network-ready card is available as a separate option on the Epson GT-2500.

"These two scanners are truly the most value-packed products of their kind when you look at the overall combination of quality and speed they deliver for these prices," said Dorinda Hill, product manager, business solutions, Epson. "And, with the added benefits of the ADF auto-duplexing and out-of-the-box networking included on the Plus model, these scanners can provide the kind of power, reliability and productivity critical for succeeding in today's fast-paced business environments."

The Epson GT-2500's and GT-2500 Plus' ADF and auto-duplex features enable users to feed and scan up to 50 double-sided sheets of paper at 600 x 600 dpi resolution. Another valuable feature on both models is Epson's ColorTrue(TM) II imaging technology, which can be used to integrate more advanced hardware and software with these scanners for higher levels of color precision and reduction of scan noise.

The two scanners feature compact designs. They also offer high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity for fast data transmission, and are compatible with a variety of operating systems including Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, and XP operating systems as well as Mac OS X, iMac and MacBook Pro.

Productivity Software
The Epson GT-2500 and GT-2500 Plus include a wealth of powerful software applications for business workgroups that include Epson Scan and Captiva ISIS Driver for scanning documents, photographs, artwork and text. The Epson GT-2500 Plus also features Adobe Acrobat for creating and reviewing Adobe PDF files, and ScanSoft PaperPort for organizing, finding and sharing documents.

Certification and Compatibility with Document Imaging ISVs
The Epson GT-2500 and GT-2500 Plus scanners have already passed compatibility testing with Kofax, one of the leading independent software vendors (ISVs). In addition, the scanners have received certification from other reputable document imaging ISVs including ABBYY, AccuSoft, Captiva, Gravic, Matrix Document Sciences, and Nuance.

Availability and Support
The Epson GT-2500 and Epson GT-2500 Plus scanners will be available in July through Epson authorized dealers, consumer electronic stores, mail order, distribution, and on the Epson Store Web site (www.epsonstore.com). Carrying a one-year limited warranty, these new scanner models are supported by the Epson Connection, a fully-automated customer support and technical assistance line.
