GretagMacbeth Technology Powers QuarkXPress 7 Color Engine

Quark Inc. announced today that its new alliance with GretagMacbeth adds best-of-breed color fidelity to the latest upgrade of QuarkXPress. Quark and its new color partner, GretagMacbeth, have re-engineered the QuarkXPress color engine around GretagMacbeth's color technology so that QuarkXPress 7 preserves the integrity of color control from screen to output -- putting more precise color control in the hands of designers.

GretagMacbeth and Quark have made color management more seamless by delivering more predictable color output with the QuarkXPress 7 software. Designers have complete control over color output without needing to become color experts, resulting in top-notch color management with minimum effort and maximum satisfaction. With absolute control in color workflow, customers may save money on proofing, reduce costly printing mistakes, and experience increased satisfaction with color output.

"We are thrilled that Quark has rebuilt its color engine in QuarkXPress 7 around GretagMacbeth's color technology," said Jean-Yves Billon, vice president, WW OEM business at GretagMacbeth. "GretagMacbeth is dedicated to providing the creative community with the tools they need to optimize color output, and working with Quark reinforces that commitment by providing superior color control directly within QuarkXPress 7. We look forward to a long-term strategic relationship to provide Quark customers with state-of-the-art color-management technology."

"With GretagMacbeth supporting our color engine, QuarkXPress 7 is at the pinnacle of color management," said Jurgen Kurz, senior vice president of Quark desktop products. "By tackling one of the most difficult problems in design workflow -- color management -- we are working together with best-of-breed partners to enhance the connection between screen and output." He added that the combined technology from this partnership provides designers with the precision color control they demand and enables them to have even greater confidence in the entire production workflow.
